Composite Bonding in Warren Say goodbye to minor imperfections in your front teeth. Say hello to composite bonding from the office of Miller Family Dentistry. Composite bonding is a simple procedure that can be used to correct problems such as uneven spaces, chips, cracks and stains in your front teeth. It involves the application of a composite resin material that matches with the natural color of your teeth.
The bonding procedure can be completed in a single visit to our office and involves the following steps: The tooth on which the treatment is being performed is isolated. A dental etching liquid is applied to the tooth to give a good surface for the resin to bond to. The etching liquid roughens up the surface of the tooth so that the bonding agent can attach to the tooth properly upon drying. The bonding resin is applied in liquid form to the tooth in layers. Each layer is allowed to dry using a special blue curing light. Once the desired thickness has been achieved using an appropriate number of layers, the tooth is sculpted to give it a natural shape. In the final step, the tooth is smoothed, buffed and polished so that it looks absolutely natural and blends perfectly with the nearby teeth. Dental composite bonding is a durable procedure and can last for several years with proper care such as daily dental hygiene, regular checkups and bi-annual professional dental cleanings at our office. Bonded teeth need to be monitored by a dentist periodically as they are subject to staining, wear and aging. Newly bonded teeth may feel a little sensitive at first, but the sensitivity should go away in a few days.
