Anxiety-Free Dentistry

Anxiety-Free Dentistry

if you’re amongst the many people who get anxious by the very mention of dental treatments, Miller Family Dentistry has a solution for you. A huge number of people tend to neglect their dental health and delay visits to their dentist because of their fear of dental treatments. This can be eliminated with the use of sedation dentistry.

Sedation dentistry is the use of prescription drugs to induce a state of calm and relaxation in a patient and eliminate their fear and anxiety while they receive dental treatment. You will feel like you slept through the whole procedure and may have little or no memory of your treatment. It is important to note that unlike general anesthesia, sedation does not put you to sleep. You remain awake and will be able to respond to our cues during your treatment and will breathe normally.

We constantly monitor your vital signs while you’re under the effect of sedation to ensure that everything is normal. Sedation dentistry is a safe way of easily administering dental treatments and gives you and your dentist the optimal environment to finish lengthy procedures in a single visit.

We offer inhaled conscious sedation, also known as nitrous oxide sedation at our office. Nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” is mixed with oxygen and the patient is allowed to inhale this mixture through a mask placed over their nose. The gas affects you quickly and induces a state of light-headedness and happiness. It also works to block the sensation of pain. You will have no side effects such as a hangover after the procedure is over.

Another way to eliminate pain during dental procedures is local anesthesia. A local anesthetic is injected to numb the site of treatment so that the patient does not feel any pain during the procedure.
